Well it's still pre-season and the lads are still trying to work off the turkey and excesses of the festive period. There's not much to report on the footballing side of things as of yet. However just before Christmas on the 20th December the club celebrated it's 40th Anniversary with the staging of a Young Irelands v Young Irelands match in Laois. The event was also used as a fundraiser for ex clubman Dave Keohane who was savagely beaten in Coogee last August. A big thanks has to go to Emo GAA in Co. Laois who provided us with the pitch, balls, ref and two sets of jerseys. We raised €500 at the game itself and another €2500 at our fundraising that same night in Portlaoise. Next up for the lads is the trip down to Melbourne for the annual Pearse's 7's blitz. Lets hope we can go one further this year and win it. |
