Young Irelands Gaelic Football Club resident crooners Deane and Forde this week held a press conference in the Marble Bar of the newly refurbished Hilton Hotel on the city's Pitt St,to announce the upcoming tour of the country's sheep shearing stations. This tour has been described as the biggest remote musical tour since Mad Davy Devines 1976 tour 'Mad Davy does it Hard'. The tour simply called 'The Deane and Forde Trio' is being hyped by the music press as the saviour of remote area touring which has been in decline over the last number of years. The pair or trio as they like to be known will be playing such familiar places as Bindi Bindi and Yandanooka to crowds in excess of fifteen on some of the bigger ranches (thousands if you count the sheep). They hope to bring a touch of Ireland with them to each remote ranch and will be belting out all their hits such as 'The Gambler','One' and 'Jumbo Breakfast Roll'(its going to be a short gig). The tour kicks off in The Cock and Bull in Bondi Junction (the handiest place to pick up the van) on Sat 12th September 2006 with a big nights craic planned. So show your support on the night as the two boys bid Sydney goodbye. At time of going to press tickets for all gigs were still available,to order tickets email sheepaid@sydneyoungireland.com |
